Site feedback

Post by bagstone » 29 Oct 2014, 15:28

If you have any suggestions for mods, styles, or just found a bug, an odd setting or something like that - let me know.

This board uses the most frequent version of phpBB (3.1) which might mean that some mods might not work - but they'll be updated pretty soon (3.1 was only released yesterday). If there's a 3.0 mod/style you really like I'll definitely try to install it and see if it works.

Links: phpBB 3.1 extensions (until 3.0 it was "mods", now called extensions), phpBB3.1 styles, phpBB 3.0 styles.

I've installed PBWoW, which is a phpBB style for Blizzard games - you can activate it in your profile, but I don't wanna set it as default as it looks like the official forums. And let's be honest, who'd want that. :P

Yeah... this simply doesn't work yet. It simply doesn't show up in ACP when I try to install it.

There are some phpBB 3.1 styles already - like the PBWoW style.

I found another one that seems to work; it's in beta though, so use at own risk:
https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... &t=2252241

You can activate it in your profile.

Oh, forgot to add. There was an error that prevented people from editing their profile - this should be fixed and you all should be able to edit your profiles now (if you haven't been able to before). Thanks Yama and Nyasha for pointing this out.

I didn't get a PM, but just tried out your permissions and send you one, and it seems to work. I checked and re-checked and you definitely have all the rights...

If it still doesn't work let's check it out tonight when I'm home.

Hey Everyone...

Forum looks good, basic but that's fine.

Maybe going forward could try and customize it a bit more towards a Diablo theme or something

We shall see...

No one expects us to score or even win anyways, so we can only win (and you can only lose) :P

@Hocknose: Yeah, we definitely need to "make it a bit nicer" soon (tm). Just don't have time right now to create a style or graphics myself. If anyone wants to give it a shot, be my guest :P I'll just wait until more themes become available for now.

P.S.: Just treat this forum as off-topic... unless we have lots of threads there's no need to clutter the forum with "empty" forum categories ;-)

You can choose one of the custom themes already added by going to User control panel -> Board preferences -> My board style. I think we still haven't found a good one that we can set as default... probably due to the fact that this forum software's new version came out only like a week ago and not many themes came out for it or were updated to be supported by this version.

Test post:

Witching Hour

Ha! Tooltips work now.

Also, the PB3WOW_Diablo theme is not that bad. The front page looks a bit like the official forums, but everything else looks actually quite nice. I've set this URL as my bookmark:

search.php?search_id=newposts

Let's me always see all new posts.

Is there a way to change number of posts per page? Or even make it auto-load. Current system looks oldschool at best.

Good point. Was set to 10 by default, increased it to 20 (which is standard on all modern forums). Thanks!

I don't think auto-load is an option. As a matter of fact, many modern forums these days don't have auto-load. Actually not sure why, I guess there are some good reasons for it, otherwise it'd be included. I'll have a look if there's a plugin though.

Look at the new awesome logo Nyasha made!

Also changed the default Style to a less boring one.

Performance. Paging is slow so you don't want to load more than needed.

Anyways, no worries, I'll just use browser plugin.
